What We Know: Motorcycle Gang Shooting Kills 3 and Injures 5

3 people are dead and 5 others were injured in a shooting between two motorcycle gangs during the Motorcycle rally in Red River.

All those killed and hurt, according to the New Mexico State Police, belonged to a motorcycle gang.

The Bandidos and Water Dogs motorcycle gangs got into a fight, according to state police, and then someone got shot.

A number of hospitals in New Mexico and Colorado received the wounded patients. All of the victims of the shooting received medical care at Holy Cross Hospital in Taos, UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, and a hospital in Denver, Colorado.

State police say the following people have been arrested in relation to the shooting:

  • One of the Waterdogs is Jacob Castillo. Castillo is accused of killing.
  • A Bandidos Motorcycle Gang member is Matthew Jackson. Jackson is accused of carrying a gun without authorization inside a bar.
  • A Bandidos Motorcycle Gang member is Christopher Garcia. Garcia is accused of having cocaine in his possession.

The deceased have been identified as the following:

  • Anthony Silva (26 years old from Los Lunas) – Member of the Bandidos Motorcycle Gang
  • Randy Sanchez (46 years old from Albuquerque) – Member of the Water Dogs Motorcycle Gang
  • Damien Breaux (46 years old from Socorro) – Member of the Bandidos Motorcycle Gang

The weekend will see increased enforcement, according to the New Mexico State Police, who will increase security, conduct roving patrols, and make sure no one will be given an excessive amount of service in bars.

Red River’s mayor has asked companies to close if they can.
