Dangers of Riding Motorcycles in Arkansas

In terms of the states that are the most hazardous for motorcycle riders, new data shows where Arkansas ranks.

According to a study, Arkansas is the third-most dangerous state for motorcycle drivers in the country. John Fitch, a personal injury attorney in Ohio, conducted the study.

Fitch discovered that 31 of the 191 fatal motor vehicle accidents that occurred in Arkansas in 2020 involved at least one motorcycle, according to the most recent crash data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Motorists should pay attention to motorcycle riders, especially in the spring and summer when the weather is nicer, according to Officer Zach Kaja of the Jonesboro Police Department.

“You have it in the back of your mind that some people may not be looking for you,” he said of motorcycle riders.

He added that motorcycle riders should keep an eye out for passing vehicles’ wheels.

“Because the wheels are going to turn before the car goes,” he said.

Keeping an eye on your surroundings while driving, whether you’re in the driver’s seat or on the handlebars, could save someone’s life, according to Kaja.
